The Godhead: Part Four
" Revelation Chapter Five "

A. The main subject in this study is verse 7 of chapter five; " And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne "

B. To understand this verse, we must first understand that there is One throne in heaven and who it is that is sitting upon that throne.

C. Let us study the following scriptures:
1. Rev. 4:1-11 It is clear that these scriptures show that there is only One throne in heaven, and who it is that is sitting upon that throne. " The Lord God Almighty "
2. Isa. 6: 1-5 Again, it is clear that these scriptures show that there is just One Throne, and who it is that is sitting upon that throne. " The King, The Lord of Host "
3. Ps. 11:4 " The Lord's Throne is in Heaven "
4. Ps. 47:7-8 " God sitteth upon the Throne of his holiness "
5. These scriptures show without a doubt that there is only One Throne in heaven and that God sits upon that throne.

D. Now let us study the following scriptures, to reveal who it is, that is sitting on the throne of revelation chapter five verse seven.
1. Dan. 7:7-11 This is a prophecy of the judgment and describes who it is on the throne.
2. Rev. 1:1-18 It is clear that this is Jesus. " I am He that liveth and was dead " ( Jesus )
3. Rev. 20:11-15 The great white throne judgment that Daniel saw.
4. Romans 14:7-12 " The judgment seat of Christ "

F. Question: What does verse seven mean? This seven horned, seven eyed lamb is a symbol of the authority that Jesus had as God Almighty. The number seven represents the completeness of God. Paul said in Col. 2:9-10 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. Vs. 10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power.

The Godhead: Part Five
The Trinity

A. Question: What is the doctrine of the trinity? 1. The teaching of one God in three persons, one of the Father, one of the Son, and one of the Holy Ghost, Co-eternal, Co-equal in power, and Co-equal in glory.
2. Question: Does the bible support this doctrine? No ! The word trinity is not used in scripture.
a. Isa. 44-6 Beside me there is no God, he is not Co-eternal with any other God.
b. John 14:28 My Father is greater than I, he is not Co-equal in power with any other God.
c. Isa. 42:8 My glory will I not give to another, he is not Co-equal in glory with any other God.
d. 1Tim. 3:16 ... God was manifest in the flesh.
e. Col. 2:1-10 For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.

B. What is the origin of this doctrine? Shortly after the establishment of the true church, false teachers began to arise, teaching contrary to the oneness of God, which was the apostles doctrine. One, by the name of Justin Martyr, who taught that Jesus was in the second place to the Father. After him, Irenaeus, who introduced the doctrine that the Son of God became the Son of Man, making the Son of God eternal, which is false, because the Son of God did not exist until his birth in Bethlehem. This was followed by the erroneous teaching that since Jesus proceeded and came forth from the Father, that the Holy Ghost proceeded and came forth from the Son, making him the third person in the Godhead. It is believed that a man by the name of Tertullian was the first to use the word trinity in reference to God. By this time Rome who was lead by the emperor Constantine became a christian ( So Called ) in 312 AD, and in 325 AD at the Council of Nicea the Roman Catholic Church was established by the authority of Constantine. It was at the Council of Nicea that the doctrine of the trinity was adopted ( One God in three persons ) and the formula of water baptism was changed from Jesus Name ( Acts 2:38 ) to the titles of Father, Son, and Holy Ghost ( Matthew 28:19 ) It wasn't until the 8th. century that this doctrine was fully established as we have it today. 1. Note: Catholic Encyclopedia, Volume 2, page 263 - Here the authors acknowledged that the baptismal formula was changed by Their Church.

C. Question: What is the origin of the true church?
1. Matthew 28:16-20 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations...
2. Mark 16:14-20 Go ye into all the world, and preach.....
3. Luke 24:36-53 An that repentance and remission of sins should be preached...
4. John 20:19-23 As my Father hath sent me, even so I send you...
5. Acts 2:1-47 Repent and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ...
