D. Question: Does the scripture teach a secret coming of the Lord? Yes …
1. 1st Thes. 5:1-9 … that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
2. Rev. 3:1-6 I will come on the as a thief.

E. Question: Was the Rapture taught to the churches? Yes …
1. 1st Cor. 15:50-56 Behold I shew you a mystery …
2. 1st Thes. 4:13-18 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air.
3. Note: This meeting of the Lord and his saints takes place in the air, not on earth.
4. 2nd Thes. 2:1-12 … and by our gathering together unto him.

B. First, let us go to the scriptures that show the Rapture, so we can better understand the difference between the two comings of the Lord.
1. 1st Thes. 4:13-18 ... to meet the Lord in the air.

C. Now let us study the scriptures that show the differences between the Rapture and the Return of the Lord.
1. Acts 1:1-12 ... this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.
2. Luke 21:20-28 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
3. Zech. 14:1-9 ... and his feet shall stand in that day upon the Mount of Olives.
4. Matt. 24:1-3 And as he sat upon the Mount of Olives ...
5. Matt. 24:29-31 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven.

D. Question: What is the purpose of his Return?
1. Jude 1:14-15 To execute judgment ...
2. Rev. 19:11-21 To fight the battle of Armageddon.
3. Rev. 7:9-17 To redeem Israel.

E. Question: Who will see him at his Return?
1. Rev. 1:7-8 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him.

F. Question: What will be the difference between the coming of the Lord in the Rapture and the coming of the Lord in his Return?
1. At the Rapture, his coming will be secret and only the Church will see him, and the church is caught up in the air to meet him.
2. At his Return every eye shall see him, and he comes back to earth and stands upon the Mount of Olives.
3. These are clear distinctions showing the differences between his two comings.
