A. Little is known about the prophet Joel, and the date of his writing, it is believed to have been written about 600 B.C. but that is not certain.

Chapter One

A. Verse 1-4 Joel begins his book with appealing to the older men to remind the younger of the wrath of God and how he brought famine upon the land through natural disasters, such as locust and the palmerworm the cankerworm and the caterpiller because of their disobedience, and that they were to remind their children to another generation.

B. Verse 5-20 Joel warns Judah and Jerusalem to Awake and to repent, he calls upon the priest to lament and the ministers of the altar to repent.

Chapter Two

A. Verse 1-11 Joel not only speaks against Judah in that day but here in chapter two he makes a prophetic prophecy of the end time, as reference to by Jesus in Matthew( 24:21 ), also by Jeremiah ( 30:7 ) and also by Daniel ( 12:1 ).
B. Verse 12-18 The Lord exhorts them to repent and turn unto him with all their hearts.
C. Verse 19-32 He promises great blessings upon them if they will repent, also we find here the promise of the baptism of the Holy Ghost which began to be fulfilled in Acts 2

Chapter Three

A. Verse 1-2 He prophesies of the battle of Armageddon as in Zech. chapters 12, 13, and 14.
B. Verse 3-8 Judgment pronounced against the enemies of Judah and Jerusalem.
D. Verse 9-17 The Lord declares war on the Gentile Nations at Armageddon.
E. Verse 18-21 The children of Israel are blessed at the end, making reference to the millenium in Revelation chapter 20 verse 1 - 10
